Dynasty City Wall Relics Park: Yuan Dynasty City Wall
Relics Park was built on the city wall relics of the Yuan
Dynasty. It extends across Haidian and Chaoyang districts
from west to east, with a length of 9 kilometers (6 miles)
in total, and it is the largest linear park in Beijing.
The moat dug in the Yuan Dynasty flows through the park,
and divides it into two parts, connected by six bridges.
The north section is the city wall relics protected area,
and the south section is planted with trees, flowers and
grass, dotted with sculptures, pavilions and murals. The
park has the largest number of Chinese flowering crabapple
trees in Beijing. Every April, thousands flock to the
park to witness the 2,500 trees in full bloom.
Palace: The biggest and the best-preserved imperial garden in China. It covers a total area of 290 hectares. UNESCO added this site to the World Heritage List in 1998. There is a very large lake named Kunming Lake in Summer Palace. In summer, visitors can take a cruise by a boat on the lake, and in the winter they can skate across its frozen expanse. The highly attractive 17 Arch Bridge links the lake's eastern shore to South Lake Island. The Summer Palace is an icon of classical Chinese architecture in terms of both garden design and construction.
